Website & System Rescue

Get a broken website or a failing system working again, then make it safe to change.

A system becomes a rescue when it is slow, failing, or too risky to modify, and the people who built it are gone. That can be a fifteen-year-old monolith or a small business website that was hacked, broke after an update, or was left behind when the developer moved on. DeltaBreen takes these over, stops the bleeding first, and then works methodically towards something your own people, or any competent supplier, can maintain. We have done this in PHP, Java, .NET, Python and Node, on-premises and in the cloud.

What you get

  • Find and fix the faults causing most of the pain
  • Tests, monitoring, backups and a way to roll back
  • Documentation and a handover, so you are not dependent on us

When to call us

  • Recurring outages: The system falls over under load, at month end, or for reasons nobody can explain.
  • Nobody dares deploy: Releases are rare and frightening because there are no tests and no rollback.
  • Key-person risk: One contractor or long-departed developer holds all the knowledge.
  • Unsupported platform: End-of-life language runtimes, databases or operating systems with no upgrade path.
  • Vendor gone: The agency that built it no longer exists or will not engage.
  • Website hacked or broken: A business website that has been defaced, is sending spam, or stopped working after an update.

What we do

  • Triage: Reproduce the failures, profile the hot paths, and fix the handful of faults causing most of the pain.
  • Safety net: Characterisation tests around existing behaviour, monitoring, backups you have actually restored from, and a rollback path.
  • Targeted refactoring: Untangle the specific modules that block change. We do not rewrite from scratch unless the evidence says so.
  • Runtime upgrades: Move off end-of-life language versions, frameworks and databases in small, reversible steps.
  • Documentation and handover: Architecture notes, runbooks and a recorded walkthrough so the knowledge stays with you.

How it works

  1. Free consultation

A free 30-minute call about what is going wrong. Where the system needs a closer look, a short assessment at a price agreed up front: read the code, watch it run, talk to the people who operate it, then a written plan and a fixed-price proposal.

  2. Stabilise

The first weeks target the failures with the highest business cost. Every change ships behind tests and monitoring.

  3. Modernise

Incremental upgrades and refactoring, measured against the plan, with your team pairing where they want to.

  4. Hand over

Your engineers can deploy, debug and extend the system without us. That is the exit criterion.

Common questions

Do you rewrite legacy systems?
Rarely. Rewrites take longer than planned and reintroduce solved bugs. We stabilise and modernise in place unless the assessment shows a rewrite is genuinely cheaper.
Which technologies do you cover?
Most mainstream server-side stacks: PHP, Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, Ruby, plus the databases and infrastructure around them. If your stack is unusual, ask; we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.
Can you work with our existing team?
Yes, and we prefer it. The fastest way to remove key-person risk is for your engineers to do the work alongside us.
How quickly can you start?
For an outage or a critical deadline we can usually begin the assessment within days. Tell us the situation on the contact page.
